Family-office Q3 deal capital totals $68.3 billion, with wealth-management consolidation among dominant themes
The report names wealth-management consolidation as a dominant theme but does not break out those dollars.
At a glance
Family offices participated in 342 company transactions in the third quarter, with $68.3 billion in disclosed round capital, according to FINTRX data reported by InvestmentNews.
Disclosed round sizes ranged from a median of $34.5 million to an average of $260.7 million, a spread FINTRX attributes to a handful of mega-rounds in frontier technology.
Wealth-management consolidation shares top billing in the report's summary, but the reported figures do not separate wealth-management dollars from the $68.3 billion total or give a transaction count for RIA deals.
Family offices participated in 342 company transactions in the third quarter, with $68.3 billion in disclosed round capital, according to FINTRX data reported by InvestmentNews. Artificial intelligence and wealth-management consolidation dominated the deal landscape, the FINTRX Q3 2026 Family Office Investment Activity Report found.
The activity ran through 161 family offices, which invested in 319 companies across those 342 deals between July and September. FINTRX counted a further 23 real estate transactions in the same period, with $2.41 billion in disclosed property value, kept separate from the $68.3 billion in company rounds.
Disclosed round sizes ranged from a median of $34.5 million to an average of $260.7 million, a spread FINTRX attributes to a handful of mega-rounds in frontier technology. By transaction count, a16z Perennial was the most active investor in the quarter, with 56 transactions and a lead the report describes as significant.
| Company | Disclosed amount | Category as reported |
|---|---|---|
| Blue Origin | $10 billion | Mega-round |
| Databricks | $5 billion | Mega-round; listed among pure-technology transactions |
| Mistral AI | $3.5 billion | Mega-round |
| The Boring Company | $3 billion | Mega-round |
| Neko Health | $700 million | Healthcare and life sciences, Series C |
| Enveda | $311 million | Healthcare and life sciences |
| Helsing | $1.8 billion | Defense and advanced manufacturing |
| Hadrian Automation | $1.37 billion | Defense and advanced manufacturing |
| Quantum Systems | $1.2 billion | Defense and advanced manufacturing |
| Base Power, Form Energy, Antora Energy | $2.3 billion combined | Energy |
Technology took the largest share of deal volume by a wide margin. Pure technology transactions numbered 69, and once tech-enabled companies across financial services, industrials, energy and public services are included, FINTRX puts the technology footprint at well over half of all Q3 activity. Healthcare and life sciences contributed 27 transactions. In energy, Capricorn Investment Group, Foris Ventures and Emerson Collective ranked among the most active investors in its dataset.
Wealth-management consolidation shares top billing in the report's summary, but the reported figures do not separate wealth-management dollars from the $68.3 billion total or give a transaction count for RIA deals. PWD's own third-quarter tracking found RIA deal counts falling: DeVoe & Company counted 77 deals, down 17%, and said reaching its annual record now needs 79 in the fourth quarter.
Family-office capital may be underwriting platform-scale transactions that a quarterly deal count captures only once, but the reported figures do not establish that.
