Securities-backed lines of credit and checking for advisors' clients
Wilmington, DE, USPublic (NASDAQ:TBBK)thebancorp.comNot yet confirmed by the company
The Bancorp Institutional Banking is the wealth management lending and deposit unit of The Bancorp, Inc., a Nasdaq-listed payment services provider and specialized lender headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware, which operates through its subsidiary The Bancorp Bank, N.A. The unit works through financial professionals, offering banking products they can provide to their clients. The Bancorp says it has no in-house wealth management business, so it does not compete with advisors for client assets.
The main product is a securities-backed line of credit: an interest-only revolving line secured by a client's investment account, with advance rates the bank puts at 50% to 95% of portfolio value (95% for an all-cash portfolio) and a $75,000 minimum request. Lines can be structured for trusts, entities and third-party pledges, and the bank lists no application, annual or monthly fees. Funds go out by check, ACH or same-day wire. The bank also markets the line to advisors moving to an independent practice.
Talea, the bank's loan automation platform, handles applications, approvals, document signing and collateral monitoring, and Talea Lync, built on Salesforce Experience Cloud, lets advisors view balances and transactions, set alerts and track loan status. Deposit products include Investment Checking with automatic sweeps to linked investment accounts, an online checking account with no minimum balance that can draw on the credit line to cover overdrafts, and deposit options for retirement plan cash.
