Securities-based and insurance-based lending for advisors' clients

TriState Capital Bank runs a private bank that lends to the clients of financial advisors. It works with registered representatives at regional and independent broker-dealers, RIAs that serve high-net-worth clients, single and select multi-family offices, and trust company wealth managers. The bank also does commercial real estate, middle market and equipment lending outside the advisor channel.
For advisors, the main product is a securities-based line of credit that lets a client pledge an investment portfolio as collateral instead of selling holdings. Lines come with SOFR-based variable or fixed rates, can use several portfolios owned by individuals, entities or trusts, and can pay off existing loans to support account transfers. Advisors and clients use a digital lending platform for these lines, and borrowers can track balances, interest and statements through the myAccess portal. The bank also offers insurance-based lines of credit secured by whole life policy cash value. Family offices can get custom deposit programs, treasury management services and links to data aggregators.
TriState Capital Bank was founded in 2007 and has its corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh. Its holding company went public in 2013 and was acquired by Raymond James Financial in 2022. The bank operates without branches.
