Longevity-adjusted Social Security claiming optimizers, including a couples version for financial professionals
Washington, DC, USshoreupretire.com
ShoreUp Retirement Solutions makes Social Security claiming calculators that adjust the recommended claiming age to a projected individual lifespan rather than population averages. It sells to consumers and offers a version for financial professionals.
The Couples Optimizer estimates the value of future benefits for every feasible pair of claiming ages, taking in personal, spousal and survivor benefits and a longevity estimate based on health and demographic risk factors. The financial-professional edition stores up to ten households. The site also offers a free individual optimizer, a retirement savings calculator, paid planning consultations and webinars.
The company is based in the Washington, DC area and was founded by K. Jeremy Ko, Ph.D., a former senior economist at the SEC who previously worked on decumulation models at Edelman Financial Engines. The professional Couples Optimizer costs $250 a year; the consumer version is $50 a year.
