iCapital runs a technology platform that wealth managers use to research, buy and administer alternatives, annuities and structured notes, and that asset managers use to distribute funds to advisors. It also serves family offices and institutional investors, and offers a white-label version that firms can run under their own brand.

The Marketplace lists private equity, private credit, hedge funds and other private market strategies with research and due diligence, plus model portfolios that include alternatives. Separate tools cover structured investments and defined-outcome products, annuities, and separately managed accounts. For operations, iCapital provides subscription processing, a document center, performance reporting for alternatives, consolidated reporting across custodians, data processing for offline alternative holdings, and Architect, a portfolio construction tool that shows the effect of adding alternatives. iCapital Insight and AltsEdge supply education and compliance documentation for advisors.

iCapital was founded in New York in 2013. Its corporate timeline lists investments from firms including BlackRock, UBS, Blackstone and Goldman Sachs, a $440 million round led by Temasek in 2021, and many acquisitions of bank feeder-fund platforms. Integration partners include custodians, UMA and advisor workstation platforms, and fund administrators. iCapital connected its alternatives data to Claude for Financial Advisors in 2026.
