What it does

FP Transitions provides valuation, succession planning, mergers and acquisitions and practice consulting to independent financial advisors and their firms. Its work centers on helping owners measure, grow and eventually transfer the equity value of an advisory business.

Services include business valuations, buy-side and sell-side M&A support, succession and continuity planning, internal equity-sharing structures, and growth consulting. The firm runs the FPT Open Market, an online listing of advisory practices for sale. Its FPInsights platform includes an Estimated Value Index, which benchmarks a firm's financial profile against similar firms in the company's database, and, since September 2026, compensation benchmarking for advisory firm staff. A free online assessment rates a firm across five areas, including dependence on key people, leadership and team alignment. A membership program offers ongoing support.

FP Transitions has worked with advisors since 1999 and is based in Lake Oswego, Oregon. The company says it has more than 70 staff, handles about 100 M&A transactions a year and has served more than 17,000 advisory businesses. Brad Bueermann is chief executive.
