SoleCrypt lifts Bizerte AI campus plan to 40MW

Its first 7MW, designed for 1,728 Nvidia Rubin GPUs, could go live in early 2028; a 60MW solar and battery plant sits 525km away.

At a glance

  1. The first 7MW is designed to host Nvidia's HGX Rubin NVL8 systems and 1,728 Rubin GPUs.
  2. The dedicated power source is a 60MW solar and battery storage project across 100 hectares in Tozeur, about 525km from Bizerte.
  3. SoleCrypt, launched in 2022, develops data centers powered by solar assets.

SoleCrypt has grown the planned capacity of its AI campus in Bizerte, Tunisia, to 40MW, up from the 20MW data center it previously outlined for the site, and has put hardware and timing on the first phase.

The first 7MW is designed to host Nvidia's HGX Rubin NVL8 systems and 1,728 Rubin GPUs. That phase could go live in early 2028, Data Center Dynamics reported. The campus is planned about 3.6km from the Medusa subsea cable landing in Bizerte, connected by a routed fiber path; the first phase of that cable, linking Marseille and Bizerte, went live earlier this year.

The dedicated power source is a 60MW solar and battery storage project across 100 hectares in Tozeur, about 525km from Bizerte. For allocators underwriting the 2028 start, that gap makes transmission and firm capacity from Tozeur as much a diligence item as the GPU fit-out. The report says full project details have not been shared.

SoleCrypt, launched in 2022, develops data centers powered by solar assets. It signed a memorandum of understanding with Safozi, a Tunisian cloud and data infrastructure provider, late last year.
