Most Wealth Firms Use AI in Client Work, LSEG Finds
Advisor value is shifting from information gathering to judgment and client relationships.
Nearly six in 10 wealth firms are using AI to deepen client analysis, according to LSEG research reported by Financial Advisor Magazine. The survey found 57% of firms use AI to mine client feedback from surveys, emails and CRM notes, 56% to personalize client communications, 54% to summarize complex documents, and 51% to segment clients by preferences and lifestyle.
LSEG said AI is absorbing tasks like research, portfolio information gathering and meeting preparation, pushing advisors toward interpreting information and taking action. The firm said the advisor role is not being automated away but redefined.
For RIAs, the shift suggests efficiency gains from AI are becoming table stakes. Firms that embed AI into daily workflows can redirect advisor hours toward relationship building and higher-value advice.
LSEG also said empathy, active listening and the ability to explain trade-offs could become more important advisor skills. That points to hiring and training priorities for firms competing on service quality.
