Microsoft bought 37 acres in Pataskala, in Ohio's Licking County, for about $6.65 million, Data Center Dynamics reported Oct. 26, citing Columbus Business First. The purchase takes its land holdings in the county to more than 700 acres.
The Refugee Road parcels work out to roughly $180,000 an acre at the reported $6.65 million price. Microsoft acquired 289 acres on the same road in November 2023 and a further 40 acres in December 2024, according to the report.
For underwriters of the Columbus corridor, Pataskala is now a fourth possible Ohio site to price. No data center project is listed for the city on Microsoft's project pages, so the purchase adds acreage rather than disclosed capacity.
Microsoft paused the region's projects in April 2025, saying it was no longer moving forward with plans to invest $1 billion across campuses in New Albany, Heath and Hebron. The company said it would continue to evaluate the sites. It broke ground at Heath and Hebron in March this year, WCMH Columbus reported, and all three campuses aim to be online by 2029.
Pataskala sits between New Albany and the two Licking County sites now under construction. Microsoft's July 2026 updates described site preparation and water management at Heath, with substation work set to begin.
