Early Trump Account funding pays $1.6M at retirement, Guardian finds
New Guardian research shows Trump Accounts reshape business-owner legacy planning.
According to InvestmentNews, a new Guardian Life Insurance report found 52% of small business owners want to use their business's success to create generational wealth, a goal tied to the introduction of Trump Accounts. Guardian modeling shows a child receiving $5,000 annually in a Trump Account from birth, then $7,500 a year in a traditional IRA to age 65 at a 7% net return, could reach roughly $4.1 million by retirement; waiting until age 18 cuts the total to about $2.5 million. InvestmentNews also notes Guardian's Jim Magner detailed an employer framework allowing up to $2,500 per employee in annual Trump Account contributions.
RIAs with business-owner clients have a concrete, numbers-driven reason to open legacy planning conversations early. Guardian's modeling suggests starting at birth beats waiting until 18 by $1.6 million, even with lower total contributions. A separate report, cited by InvestmentNews, found widespread confusion among parents about Trump Accounts — an educational gap advisors can fill.
