Infrastructure fundraising data runs deeper than the top ten

Infrastructure Investor's database tracks 3,700 funds and more than 4,000 investors and managers behind the ten largest raises.

At a glance

  1. The page ranks those ten by target size, and each row links to a full profile.
  2. Infrastructure Investor says the platform tracks the investment appetite of the funds and investors it lists, not just their names.
  3. Service providers are in the same system.

The ten names at the top of Infrastructure Investor's Funds in Market page are the visible slice. The page ranks those ten by target size, and each row links to a full profile. The register underneath holds the real map: 3,700 fund profiles, 2,950 LP profiles, 1,350 GP profiles, and contact details for more than 4,000 investors and managers.

That spread of profiles makes the page a directory with a purpose. Infrastructure Investor says the platform tracks the investment appetite of the funds and investors it lists, not just their names. It also holds details on funds being raised worldwide, including target sizes and strategies. A researcher can see which general partners are in market at the same time, in the same strategy band, and which limited partners have said they are looking at infrastructure.

Service providers are in the same system. The publisher lists investment consultants, placement agents, and law firms alongside the managers and investors, which makes the database a working contact sheet rather than a static ranking. The top-ten table is a ranking; the database is a toolkit.

The ask and the close

A rank by target size is a statement of ambition. It says nothing about whether the ambition has been met. A manager with a $5 billion target and one anchor commitment can sit beside a manager with the same target and a first close already banked; the table will show them at the same height. The ranking is built on target size alone, and the coverage does not say how current each profile is.

For an allocator, that distinction matters. A crowded strategy band looks different when the full list is visible. The top ten will not show that five smaller vehicles are chasing the same LP audience; the database will. Target size measures the ask; it does not measure the close.

Target size measures the ask; it does not measure the close.

The record sits on the same platform

The fundraising file is not the only measure of these managers. Infrastructure Investor carries separate pages for fund performance methodology and quartile rankings, alongside live fundraising charts and fund comparison tools. That structure keeps the ask and the record in the same building but different rooms. An allocator who wants to know whether current targets are consistent with what infrastructure has actually returned can check both.

The deeper point is a practical one. Infrastructure fundraising still runs on relationships, but relationships need a map. What this data provides is the map: who is raising, how much they are asking for, which investors are interested, and which advisers are in the room. It will not say which managers will hit their targets, only how many are trying.
