Samsung SDS broke ground on a Gumi, South Korea, AI data center that starts at 60MW and scales to 120MW, Data Center Dynamics reported.
Building is under way on a 46,281 sq m (498,165 sq ft) site in Gongdan-dong, Gumi-Si, with completion expected in late 2028. Samsung SDS said in January it would invest 427.3 billion won ($318 million) in the Gumi project. It also signed a memorandum of understanding with North Gyeongsang Province and Gumi City. The site is part of Samsung's 60 trillion won ($44.671 billion) commitment to turn the Yeongnam region into a hub for physical AI innovation.

Cooling will be hybrid: air in general server areas used for networking and storage, liquid in the high-density GPU halls. Samsung SDS says it operates 18 data centers and, with Gumi, will have five in South Korea.
