Pantheon closed Pantheon Global Secondaries Fund VIII and associated vehicles at $6 billion on Oct. 21, above target, the firm said in a release. The release did not state the target.
The close follows a 2025 in which the London- and New York-based manager deployed about $3.35 billion across 17 secondary transactions, which the release describes as record deployment. PGSF VIII targets mid-market buyouts globally, with a portfolio the release says is diversified by vintage, GP and geography. Pantheon reports about $84 billion in assets and a $41 billion private equity platform.
The split between LP-led and GP-led deals matters for an allocator comparing secondaries managers. In an LP-led deal the seller is an existing fund investor; in a GP-led deal the seller is the fund's own manager. PGSF VIII buys both, and Pantheon said its mid-market GP relationships were the source of both; the release does not give the mix.
Florence Dard, Pantheon's chief client officer, called the close "our largest private equity secondaries fundraise to date at $6bn." She said the fundraising brought a "strong cohort of new investors," including significant commitments from Asia and the Middle East; the release gave no dollar figure for those commitments.
Pantheon's 2025 deployment works out to about $197 million per transaction. The release does not say which vehicles funded those purchases, how much of each transaction Pantheon took, or give a deployment schedule. At the 2025 pace, $6 billion would take roughly two years to deploy.
