NORD/LB, the German energy and infrastructure-focused commercial bank, has announced a deal to acquire Voltiq, an Amsterdam- and Madrid-based financial advisory and M&A boutique focused on renewable energy and the energy transition. The bank said the transaction is aimed at strengthening its capabilities across the energy transition value chain. ESG Today reported the deal but did not provide terms or a completion date.
Voltiq was founded in 2009 and advises on project financing, debt and equity raising and M&A, with sector expertise in solar, onshore and offshore wind, energy storage, hydrogen and transmission. Voltiq will continue to operate as a specialized advisory business under its own brand.
NORD/LB said the deal will strengthen its structured finance offering and allow the combined firms to offer structuring, arranging, lending, underwriting, strategic deal advisory and equity services.
Heiko Ludwig, NORD/LB's global head of structured finance, said Voltiq's specialist advisory expertise is "a natural extension of our long-established renewable energy financing capabilities." Voltiq co-founder and managing partner Paul Rittersma said NORD/LB's "financing strength and leading market presence in renewables" would give clients deeper access to financial products and services.
