The Mather Group, a Chicago RIA with $17 billion in client assets, has partnered with Legacy Consulting Group, a Plano, Texas firm with more than $400 million in assets under management. WealthManagement.com reported the pairing, and AlphaCore Wealth Advisory's addition of Blue Rock Financial Group, in its Deals & Moves column.
Legacy was founded in 1997, and partners Roger Shake and Steven Wachs and other team members owned the firm, according to its latest Form ADV. The firms said Legacy chose TMG for access to its financial planning, investment management and tax and estate planning. "For us, financial planning has always started with understanding what matters most to a client and what they want their wealth to make possible," Shake said in a statement. TMG is majority-owned by Vistria Group, a Chicago private equity firm, and in May it brought on a similarly sized Chicago RIA focused on small-business owners.
AlphaCore, based in La Jolla, Calif., manages about $10 billion in client assets and describes itself as alternatives-focused. Blue Rock is a Sussex County, Del. firm with more than $400 million in AUM, founded more than a decade ago by Todd Roselle, who joins AlphaCore as a managing director and partner. Its nine-person team works with business owners and high-net-worth families and uses a technology-driven approach to client engagement that AlphaCore plans to roll out across the rest of the firm, according to the announcement. The addition follows AlphaCore's acquisition of SPC Financial, whose team helped launch AlphaCore Tax Services in November 2025, the firm said. "For more than 10 years, I turned down every conversation about merging, because none of those firms felt like Blue Rock," Roselle said in a statement.
A $17 billion buyer absorbing a $400 million practice is adding roughly 2% to its asset base; for AlphaCore, with about $10 billion, the same $400 million is roughly 4%. That gap is the plain arithmetic behind both moves. Neither column entry gives a purchase price, so there is no multiple to weigh against what either buyer paid to get there. TMG's May addition was described as similarly sized, which suggests the firm is running a template rather than making a one-off hire of assets.
The same column reports Summit Wealth Group continuing to expand with a firm in Tennessee, and that $6 billion BakerAvenue sold a stake to Constellation. It gives no size for the Summit addition and no terms for the BakerAvenue stake.
