Researchers at the United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health say the world has moved beyond a temporary water crisis and into an era of global 'water bankruptcy,' with many river basins, aquifers, wetlands, soils, lakes and glaciers no longer able to return to historic baselines. Around four billion people face severe water scarcity at least one month each year; drought impacts cost an estimated $307 billion annually; and 2.1 billion people lack safely managed drinking water.

Into that hole steps Rick Parish. The Australian entrepreneur and philanthropist has launched Mazavida, a clean-water infrastructure venture built around containerized water treatment and desalination systems, according to Family Wealth Report. The name fuses 'Maza,' meaning water, with 'Vida,' meaning life. Mazavida pairs Parish's Abu Dhabi-headquartered Kinetic7 Technologies and Aquarius Capital with Dallas-based PIF Energy, and it will target the US and EMEA, with early attention to Commonwealth nations and other high-dependency regions.

The sectors in its sights are humanitarian response, municipal resilience, industrial continuity and agricultural production. Parish, chairman and founder of Kinetic7 and Aquarius, calls water security a defining economic, humanitarian and geopolitical risk; the venture's own pitch is speed. Mazavida is framed not as a conventional infrastructure play but as a route to deployable water resilience, producing potable water quickly, reliably and at scale where conventional infrastructure is too slow, too costly or too vulnerable.

For a family office, the structure is the draw. A containerized unit is a bounded, visible asset—small enough to underwrite directly and concrete enough to judge. It also sits at the intersection of climate resilience, critical infrastructure, food security and emergency response, which is where family-office impact capital tends to point.

What the launch material does not show is installed capacity. Whether Mazavida can move from announcement to deployed units is the test; that is the number allocators will be watching.
