Recent growth includes a 1.8 million-square-foot industrial assignment in Arizona, a new state for the firm, and a 167,000-square-foot office property in downtown Chicago, adding to Hiffman's long suburban Chicago presence. Carrie Szarzynski, executive managing director and head of management services, said much of the growth came from longstanding clients asking it to manage additional assets as they expand into new markets. The platform began in 2005 with four assignments in Illinois.

The reported 104 million square feet averages about 156,000 square feet per assignment. The two recent assignments span a wide range: 167,000 square feet in downtown Chicago and 1.8 million square feet in Arizona.

For owners and allocators comparing property managers, the milestone is a management assignment count, not an ownership stake. Hiffman manages buildings for other owners, and that distinction changes how an owner compares it to a manager of owned property.
