DACH institutions hold 32.3% of portfolios in alternatives

A BAI survey of 105 investors overseeing about EUR2.9 trillion found hedge fund use rising while real estate equity slipped and private equity gained.

32.3%of portfolios in alternatives

Institutions in Germany, Austria and Switzerland hold 32.3% of their portfolios in alternatives, according to a BAI survey of 105 investors overseeing about EUR2.9 trillion.

Hedge fund use rose, private equity gained and real estate equity slipped, the survey found.

For wealth allocators, the survey supplies a concrete alternatives benchmark: a DACH client below the reported weight is lighter than the peer group, and one above it is heavier.

At EUR2.9 trillion across 105 investors, the average institution in the survey oversees about EUR27.6 billion, so the sample skews large.
