Ezra Group's AI connector directory grows from 69 to 244 in ten weeks

The directory's 244 listings include 123 agents and 121 MCP servers, following a September wave of official connectors from wealthtech platforms.

Ezra Group's directory of AI agents and MCP servers built for advisors grew from 69 in mid-August to 244 as of Oct. 20. The research firm puts the increase at more than 250% in about ten weeks, with 123 agents and 121 MCP servers now listed.

Ezra Group's update traces the shift to September 2026, when wealthtech vendors began shipping connectors in volume. Anthropic launched Claude for Financial Advisors on Sept. 14, and major platforms shipped official connectors alongside it: Wealthbox, Orion, Redtail, Addepar, Envestnet's Tamarac, MoneyGuide, Wealth.com, iCapital, BlackRock and Vanguard. SS&C announced its Black Diamond MCP server four days earlier, and GReminders, Dispatch, Smarsh and FutureVault launched servers the same month, according to WealthTech Today's account of the directory update.

MCP, or Model Context Protocol, is the open standard that lets an AI model read from and write to other software. An MCP server is the connector that lets an agent use a system such as a CRM, a portfolio platform or a custodian. Before that September wave, per Ezra Group, the official servers in the directory came mostly from market data firms, horizontal software companies and third-party developers wrapping someone else's API. After it, the systems of record had their own.

One AI client, mostly read-only

According to Ezra Group, the big platforms document a single AI client, and most connectors only read data. A read-only connector can assemble a household view — CRM notes from Wealthbox, holdings from Addepar, an estate summary from Wealth.com — but filing the note or closing the task still needs a person at the keyboard. The near-term savings likely land in research and assembly rather than in record-keeping.

A listing means a vendor documented a connector; it does not mean a practice has connected one. Ezra Group offers one yardstick for the pace: the Kitces AdvisorTech Map, which it co-publishes with Michael Kitces, took more than seven years to grow from fewer than 200 applications to more than 600, while agents and MCP servers reached 244 in about ten weeks.

Schwab joined the program as the only RIA custodian, with its connector reportedly due in the fourth quarter of 2026. That leaves custodian data as the piece not yet connected, so the household answer an advisor pulls from Claude stops at the portfolio system. This publication reported in September that Schwab priced its Claude integration at $240 a seat, and argued that the process work behind the integration would cost more than the license.
