Dynasty Financial Partners hired Alex Kaminsky as chief marketing officer, Mercer Advisors named Kyle Pounder vice president of data, and AlphaCore Wealth Advisory appointed Craig Cardwell chief financial officer, InvestmentNews reported Oct. 29.
Kaminsky is based at Dynasty's headquarters in St. Petersburg, Fla., and reports to founder and CEO Shirl Penney. He spent eight years at NYSE-listed Corpay, rising to global chief brand officer and running a combined brand and demand-generation operation spanning communications, digital, events and customer experience; he also set up the company's first AI-enabled creative studio. Gordy Abel, who led marketing at Dynasty for the past decade, moves to the newly created post of chief brand officer, reporting to Kaminsky from New York City.
RIAs on the Dynasty platform keep the same network marketing team, led by Catherine Mitchell and Peter Ward, and Kaminsky will work with them and with Ken Hoffman, head of Dynasty Consulting Group. Dynasty supports more than 750 advisors and nearly $135 billion in platform assets, according to InvestmentNews. Kaminsky brings more than 25 years of marketing experience across Fortune 500, public and PE-backed companies, and his remit covers brand and demand generation — which puts advisor recruiting and referral marketing inside the CMO's brief. Board member John Seifert, former chairman and CEO of Ogilvy, has advised on the firm's brand refresh, and Gary Vaynerchuk of VaynerMedia made the introduction to Kaminsky.
Dynasty has recorded three moves in the past 12 months, all additions and no departures, according to Moves Wire. The most recent, on Oct. 22, was Matt LaPorta joining to build sports investing guidance and access for RIA partners.
At Denver-based Mercer Advisors, Pounder will lead the core data team behind Aspen, the firm's integrated technology platform, along with its wider AI strategy. He reports to Cynthia Loh, the recently appointed chief platform officer, who previously built advice platforms at Goldman Sachs, Charles Schwab and Betterment. Mercer has more than 460 advisors and upward of 43,000 clients, according to InvestmentNews.
AlphaCore, which InvestmentNews groups with Dynasty and Mercer as acquisitive platforms, named Cardwell its finance chief. Deal Tracker records two deals announced by AlphaCore as buyer in the past 12 months, neither of them closed. Moves Wire records one addition in the same period: Todd Roselle moved from Blue Rock Financial Group to AlphaCore as a managing director and partner on Oct. 7, bringing a nine-person team and $400 million in client assets.
Kaminsky's earlier stops include YP, The Weather Channel, Coca-Cola, ESPN and Turner Broadcasting, and he founded a brand consultancy that he later sold. His hire is the first senior marketing change at Dynasty since Abel took the marketing seat a decade ago.
