Capital A Management has brought tax planning, tax preparation and Medicare planning in-house, according to InvestmentNews's Leading RIAs – East report published Oct. 28.

The firm, which has offices in Pennsylvania and Ohio, built its model around five areas: income, investments, taxes, healthcare and legacy planning. Lauren Perrotta, its director of growth and strategic execution, said clients face decisions well beyond investments.

The report found leading RIAs in 11 eastern states are growing by widening their advice scope rather than chasing investment trends. In Rochester, N.Y., William J. Prentice II, managing partner of Prentice Wealth Management, said clients who relocated pushed his firm to plan across states and tax jurisdictions.

The Pennsylvania State Data Center reports that 21% of Pennsylvanians were 65 or older in 2025, and that group grew 13% from 2020 to 2025.

For RIA principals running retiree-heavy books, Capital A's move shows one way to expand client service: bring tax and Medicare planning in-house, two functions many firms refer out.
