AWS plans up to 15 data center buildings on 890 Missouri acres

The Danville tract has no purchase or start date; Amazon said New Florence will get a $10 billion phased build-out.

AWS plans up to 15 data center buildings on 890 acres near Danville, Missouri, its second Montgomery County site besides the 1,000-acre New Florence campus.

The property has not been acquired and no construction date is set; AWS plans to begin between 2027 and 2029 if approved. A representative from Amazon told county commissioners of the expansion plans, Data Center Dynamics reported Oct. 26, citing Mid-Missouri Business. At New Florence, Amazon said in June it would invest $10 billion, building eight data center buildings in a first phase and potentially 13 more in a second.

For allocators pricing data-center infrastructure exposure, New Florence carries a committed $10 billion phased build-out; the Danville tract has no purchase, start date or published cost. Land positions and utility load forecasts are what a counterparty can evaluate before an approval lands.

In Indiana, AWS held an open house to discuss a potential project in Posey County, where it is exploring several properties and planning remains early, according to Tristate Homepage. CenterPoint Energy's excess grid capacity is part of the region's appeal. Posey County sits in southwest Indiana near Evansville; the state's data centers are mostly in Indianapolis, Gary and South Bend.
