Alliant Insurance Services is building an RIA recruiting and acquisition arm led by Dan Newhall, a former Rise Growth Partners managing partner, WealthManagement.com reported.

Newhall joined Alliant in September as an executive vice president and is targeting advisor teams with $200 million to $2 billion in client assets. He said he wants advisors interested in a W-2 employee structure rather than running their own firms. Amit Dogra, a managing director and executive vice president, leads Retirement & Wealth at Alliant. The division reports $28 billion in assets under advisement and management. The insurance brokerage had more than $5.1 billion in revenue in its most recent reporting.

For teams in that asset band, the pitch is a salaried home with growth incentives rather than an equity-backed rollup on a fund's timeline. Newhall said Alliant is "not building a business to flip over here" and is not trying to pay the highest multiple for a retiring advisor.
