Athennian

Athennian makes entity management software for legal, tax and finance teams that run complex ownership structures. Its customers include corporate groups, law firms, private equity and real estate managers, and it markets a version to family offices for keeping records on trusts, holding companies and other entities.

The platform stores a profile for each entity with its directors and officers, addresses, registrations, KYC details and compliance dates, alongside cap tables and equity and debt transactions. It draws ownership and structure charts from that data, tracks ultimate beneficial owners, and keeps a virtual minute book with audit trails. Role-based access lets outside lawyers, accountants and advisors see specific records. Document and e-signature workflows, reminders and reports cover filings and approvals, and AI features read uploaded board consents and other documents, create or update records from them, and answer questions about ownership and governing terms.

Athennian traces its start to a company incorporated in Calgary in 2016 and took its current name in 2018. It raised a CAD $42 million Series B in 2022. The Essentials plan is listed at $25,000 a year for 100 entities, and larger plans are quoted. Integrations include DocuSign, Adobe Sign, iManage, Microsoft Office 365 and Google Drive.
