XYPN has 110 firms working toward registration, up from 60 a year earlier

20-second brief
  • XY Planning Network has 110 firms working toward registration, up from 60 at the same point last year.

  • Co-founder Alan Moore says XYPN has added more than 370 advisors in 2026, about 9.5 a week, with active new-registration numbers above 90 all year.

  • RIABiz reports that advisors are intentionally leaving firms, many of them rollups, and ties part of the surge to contracts advisors sign after a deal closes.

XY Planning Network has 110 firms working toward registration, up from 60 at the same point last year. The Bozeman, Mont., membership and startup organization for RIAs reported the figure from its XYPN LIVE event in San Diego last week, as covered by RIABiz.

The network counts 2,400 members and 2,100 practices in its Emerald network, of which 300 practices are SEC-registered.

Co-founder Alan Moore says XYPN has added more than 370 advisors in 2026, about 9.5 a week, with active new-registration numbers above 90 all year. The network put attendance at about 818, just over 200 of them non-members split among prospects, firm members, exhibitors, XYPN partners and industry professionals. One attendee told XYPN they would quit their job the Monday after the conference to start a firm, Moore said.

RIABiz's lede describes the pace of new shop formation as nearly two a day, a count of firms. Moore's 9.5-a-week figure counts advisors joining the network; in previous years the co-founders reported bringing aboard a new RIA daily on average.

RIABiz reports that advisors are intentionally leaving firms, many of them rollups, and ties part of the surge to contracts advisors sign after a deal closes. The report also points to career-changers from Google and Amazon, and its headline names Fidelity alongside them among the factors feeding the boom.

The counts measure firm formation, not assets. A registration pipeline of 110 is a count of entities that do not yet exist, and the 370 advisors are a membership tally rather than a record of books changing platforms.
