Wealth Enhancement adds a $376 million Virginia tuck-in

The four-person Glen Allen team brings a wirehouse-to-independent-to-consolidator arc to a buyer already stacking small deals this summer.

InvestmentNews reports that Wealth Enhancement Group has acquired the investment advisory business of Dickerson Jackson & Associates, a Glen Allen, Virginia hybrid RIA managing more than $376 million in client assets. The deal is the latest of several small tuck-ins in a summer that has pushed the Minneapolis consolidator past $161.4 billion in total assets. The four-person team, led by managing partners Jeff Dickerson and Todd Jackson, both CFPs, deepens a Virginia footprint that already includes a Falls Church office.

Dickerson and Jackson bring nearly eight decades of combined industry experience, with BrokerCheck records showing registration at UBS and Wells Fargo before they affiliated with Raymond James Financial Services in 2022. The firm, founded in 2004, built its practice around a process it calls “Understand-Design-Implement-Manage,” spanning financial planning, investment management, retirement planning, estate and trust planning, business planning, risk management, fixed-income services, and charitable giving strategies. FP Transitions advised the sellers, while Wealth Enhancement chief executive Jeff Dekko praised the team's “discipline and care” and chief strategy officer Jim Cahn said the firm looks forward to supporting the partners' growth.

The Virginia deal is one of several Wealth Enhancement has struck this summer: the firm pushed into the Pacific Northwest last week, separately reunited an Oklahoma advisor with former colleagues, and in August closed on a $644 million Washington State tuck-in, per PWD's records. The addition lifts the consolidator's total client advisory, trust and brokerage assets above $161.4 billion, a figure that includes previously announced acquisitions still working through integration; as of July 31, the firm reported $160.1 billion in client assets, including $5.5 billion in brokerage assets held through its affiliated broker-dealer.

The haul, four people in Virginia, a solo founder in Olympia, and a homecoming in Oklahoma, accrues into a $161 billion balance sheet through dozens of small, friendly handoffs rather than any single splashy purchase. The test for Wealth Enhancement is not whether it can keep signing these deals; it is whether back-office integration can keep pace with a strategy built on many modest books arriving at once. For Dickerson and Jackson, the sale follows a path from the wirehouse system to a national independent platform and then into a consolidator, a two-step that is becoming the RIA cycle's standard exit and one that quietly erodes the “independent” label with every close.
