Siemens has made a strategic investment in Skeleton Technologies and signed an exclusive partnership with the Estonian grid-power systems provider, valuing Skeleton at more than $1 billion, Data Center Dynamics reported on October 15. The report does not give the amount invested or the terms of the exclusive agreement.

Skeleton says its high-power energy-storage devices handle sharp load fluctuations in grids and AI data centers in under a millisecond and help data centers smooth power demand and reduce energy consumption. Siemens described the technology as an electrical shock absorber that takes fast swings and protects equipment and the grid.

Supercapacitors deliver short, high-power bursts; the electricity an AI campus draws for hours still has to be generated and delivered.

“By combining Siemens' electrical infrastructure expertise with Skeleton's breakthrough supercapacitor technology, we can help customers unlock more AI capacity, improve resilience and accelerate growth in a rapidly expanding market,” said Peter Koerte, a member of the managing board of Siemens AG and president of its smart infrastructure business. Taavi Madiberk, Skeleton's CEO and co-founder, said the partnership “brings together Skeleton's innovation and Siemens' global industrial scale to accelerate the deployment of AI infrastructure, unlock more computing power and improve energy efficiency,” and that the company plans to become the world's largest provider of white-space power systems for AI data centers, a goal with no date or market-share figure.

It partnered with transformer manufacturer DG Matrix on 800VDC power infrastructure and with Infineon on high-efficiency power solutions for modern data centers. Skeleton was founded in 2009 in Tartu, Estonia. Its first customer was the European Space Agency, and its devices have been used in BMW's i7 and M-series models. It opened its first US manufacturing facility in Houston earlier this year, following two European factories launched in November 2025.
