Schwab will hold the first National RIA Day on Feb. 17, 2027, an annual campus event meant to introduce college students to RIA careers, the custodian said at its IMPACT conference in Boston. Later editions will fall on the third Wednesday of February.

Schwab will supply programming, toolkits and other materials to advisors, students and partners, and will ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange on the inaugural date. It has partnered with the CFP Board, the Foundation for Financial Planning and the Investment Adviser Association to host the day, InvestmentNews first reported. The event is also meant to rally advocates for the profession in Washington, D.C. Jon Beatty, head of Schwab Advisor Services, said at IMPACT: "This industry has never had a moment to call its own."

For a firm with an entry-level seat open, Feb. 17, 2027 supplies a date, programming and materials it would otherwise assemble itself, plus a reason to approach a local campus. Screening and onboarding the students who show up stays with the firm.

Nearly 17,000 RIAs custody with Schwab, according to InvestmentNews. Schwab has projected that wealth managers will need to hire 70,000 new staff by 2030 to keep pace with RIA industry growth. Beatty cited Cerulli data showing the share of affluent Americans willing to pay for financial advice rose to 68% in 2025 from 38% in 2010.

Moves Wire recorded two moves involving Schwab in the past 12 months, both departures and none joining. The latest, on Oct. 15, was Hardeep Walia's move to TD Bank US as head of U.S. wealth management.
