Revolut's daily-money app is an ETF distribution channel

With 75 million customers already inside the app, the retail ETF sale is migrating from the trading session to the daily money habit.

At a glance

  1. Rolandas Juteika, Revolut's head of wealth and trading for the EEA, told ETF Express that the app's continuous contact with salaries, payments, saving, travel and budgeting gives it an advantage over standalone brokers, which typically see users only when they deliberately decide to trade.
  2. Revolut, Juteika argues, has spent much of its life misdescribed as a challenger bank; its trajectory is closer to a default financial interface.
  3. Revolut says it has more than 75 million retail customers worldwide, including 13 million in the UK and more than six million in Spain; BBVA reported roughly 82 million active customers globally earlier this year, and Lloyds Banking Group serves about 28 million UK customers.

The customer who buys an ETF inside Revolut's app did not necessarily open the app to buy an ETF. Rolandas Juteika, Revolut's head of wealth and trading for the EEA, told ETF Express that the app's continuous contact with salaries, payments, saving, travel and budgeting gives it an advantage over standalone brokers, which typically see users only when they deliberately decide to trade.

Revolut, Juteika argues, has spent much of its life misdescribed as a challenger bank; its trajectory is closer to a default financial interface. The model assumes money management is part of lifestyle rather than a separate task, which is why salary receipt, spending, saving, currency exchange, travel and investing live in the same app. If that premise holds, Revolut becomes an always-on ETF distribution channel instead of a destination users visit only when they want to trade.

Revolut says it has more than 75 million retail customers worldwide, including 13 million in the UK and more than six million in Spain; BBVA reported roughly 82 million active customers globally earlier this year, and Lloyds Banking Group serves about 28 million UK customers. In Spain, Revolut has become the country's fourth-largest bank by customer penetration.

Revolut's product list runs from salary receipt, payments, savings, transfers, currency exchange, budgeting and subscription tracking to travel rewards, airport lounge access, eSIM data and investing, and the breadth now shows up in revenue: 11 product lines each generated more than £100 million in 2025, while wealth revenue rose 31 per cent to £663 million.

For an ETF issuer, that changes the sales problem: a standalone broker hosts a deliberate act in which the user has already decided to trade before logging in, whereas Revolut hosts a continuous habit, so the fund is competing for attention inside a screen the customer opened for another reason. That should favor simple, plainly framed products whose purpose can survive a glance, not the thematic long tail that needs a wholesaler's explanation. Revolut has an obvious interest in the argument; the usage pattern is what gives it force.

The US rollout will tell whether the model travels, and Revolut has roughly one million US customers through partner-bank arrangements, with plans to open its own US bank next year pending regulatory approval. A US charter would extend the model to a market where issuers are already fighting for shelf space, and the next round of that fight may not be confined to broker platforms.
