O3 Group expects its Benghazi Tier III data center, now under construction, to be operational in March 2027. The Libyan operator, formally Ozone Telecommunications and Technology Group, launched operations in the city on Oct. 19.
O3 also plans a 5G pilot in Benghazi by the end of 2026 and a commercial launch in the second quarter of 2027, Data Center Dynamics reported. The completed facility is meant to supply local hosting, cloud services and business applications to telecom operators, financial institutions, government organizations and corporate clients. The reporting does not disclose a capital figure, capacity or named customer.
For due diligence, advisors can verify the connectivity claim against existing infrastructure: Libya has 13 cable landing stations along its north coast but only four subsea cables connecting them, DCD reported. O3 said it will focus international connectivity on the Medusa system, whose pre-laid shore end has been installed in Benghazi.
The Medusa Submarine Cable System runs roughly 8,760 km, with core routes around 7,100 km, according to Data Center Dynamics. DCD calls it the longest submarine cable project in the Mediterranean, designed to link Southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Data Center Map lists eight data centers in Libya.
