O-Green's €7.4bn Spain campus has permits for 90 of 570MW

The Oman-affiliated fund's San Mateo de Gállego plan is reported to replace Vantage's €3.2 billion project, leaving 480MW without a described permit path.

At a glance

  1. The remaining 480MW has no described permit path, and the terms of the replacement were not described.
  2. A lease at the campus could attach to the permitted 90MW or the unpermitted 480MW, and per-megawatt revenue across the full build depends on who carries interconnection cost if later capacity slips.
  3. The €7.4 billion spread across 570MW works out to about €13 million per megawatt.

O-Green's planned data center campus at San Mateo de Gállego in Spain is valued at €7.4 billion and sized at 570MW, but grid permits cover only the first 90MW phase.

O-Green is described as an Oman-affiliated fund, and its San Mateo de Gállego plan is reported to replace Vantage's €3.2 billion project. The remaining 480MW has no described permit path, and the terms of the replacement were not described.

A lease at the campus could attach to the permitted 90MW or the unpermitted 480MW, and per-megawatt revenue across the full build depends on who carries interconnection cost if later capacity slips. A campus with 570MW of secured grid capacity supports a different revenue schedule than one where only the first 90MW has a path to power.

The €7.4 billion spread across 570MW works out to about €13 million per megawatt. The permitted 90MW is about 16% of the total, or roughly €1.2 billion pro rata, though the plan does not break cost down by phase.

The plan gives no date for bringing on capacity beyond the first 90MW. Whoever holds the interconnection risk — the fund, a tenant or the grid operator — determines how much of the €7.4 billion converts from a proposal into capital spending.
