Nexus Core Systems and FiveNines Group are teaming up on a 20MW data center on the outskirts of Casablanca, Data Center Dynamics reported on Oct. 12.

FiveNines CEO Gerry Curran said the project would bring together the firm's international data center expertise with Moroccan architects, engineers, technical advisers and relevant authorities. Bastian Remmlinger, head of infrastructure at Nexus, said FiveNines had supported the design and delivery approach so far.

The Casablanca site is part of the Nexus AI Factory Platform, a 180MW renewable-powered "advanced infrastructure hub" the company aims to establish.

Nexus disclosed plans for a 20MW facility in the region in April 2026. Its website lists a 12-hectare Moroccan site, 10MW in Charlotte, North Carolina, and 40MW in Sweden; the Casablanca project is not listed.

Nexus claims its designs can support up to 400kW per rack with liquid cooling. Data Center Dynamics also noted Nexus was said to be working with Korea's Naver on a 500MW Moroccan project targeting an initial 40MW.

Morocco's data center footprint is small, with Casablanca and Rabat its largest markets, served by operators including Orange, N+One and Inwi.
