MRE Capital, the Annapolis family office of David Williams, invested in Terren Landscapes, a residential landscaping company in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, Family Office Hub reported. Terren becomes the family office's newest platform company and the base for a regional landscaping group, with terms not disclosed.

The investment closed in October 2026, with founder and chief executive John McCaughey continuing to lead the company. Ken Geis becomes chief operating officer. He joined Terren as a consultant in 2023, became general manager at the end of 2024, and spent more than twenty years in leadership roles at Merkle and dentsu, where he first worked with Williams in 2007.

For advisors reviewing similar platform deals, the governance detail is the split of roles: the founder stays chief executive while an outside operating executive becomes chief operating officer. Family Office Hub said residential landscaping is local, fragmented and often owner-led, a mix that makes these companies common targets for buy-and-build strategies.
