KT Cloud breaks ground on 50MW Ansan data center

The site is due live in 2029; no IT capacity figure is given, leaving usable load an open question for underwriters.

At a glance

  1. The nine-story building, with two basement floors and 36,880 sqm (396,973 sq ft), is due live in 2029, Data Center Dynamics reported.
  2. KT's Gasan facility, live since November 2025, is 40MW with 26MW of IT capacity, so comparing KT sites requires the IT figure.
  3. Two other named sites are part of KT's plan.

KT Cloud broke ground this week on a 50MW data center in Ansan, in South Korea's Gyeonggi Province, part of KT's plan to offer up to 1GW of AI data center capacity by 2031.

The nine-story building, with two basement floors and 36,880 sqm (396,973 sq ft), is due live in 2029, Data Center Dynamics reported.

KT's Gasan facility, live since November 2025, is 40MW with 26MW of IT capacity, so comparing KT sites requires the IT figure. The Ansan announcement gives 50MW without a matching IT number, leaving usable load an open question.

Two other named sites are part of KT's plan. A 50MW, 11-story facility in Cheongna, Incheon, is set to start construction in the fourth quarter and complete by the first quarter of 2030. At Gunsan, where KT recently began construction alongside SGC Energy, the initial 60MW is due live in the first quarter of 2028, and the site could eventually scale to 300MW. Of the three dated sites, Gunsan comes online first.
