  2. Fixed income ETFs hit a record USD732.91 billion in assets after USD30.99 billion of inflows, though those flows fell 14.18 per cent from the second quarter while assets rose 1.42 per cent.
  3. The fastest relative growth sat further down the table.

ETF Express reported 15 October on HANetf's Exchange-Traded Europe October 2026 report, which puts global ETF assets above USD24 trillion and European ETP assets at a record USD3.9 trillion.

European ETFs took USD147.79 billion of net inflows in the third quarter to reach USD3.7 trillion, with flows up more than 10 per cent on the prior quarter.

Fixed income ETFs hit a record USD732.91 billion in assets after USD30.99 billion of inflows, though those flows fell 14.18 per cent from the second quarter while assets rose 1.42 per cent. Active ETFs took USD13.13 billion, down 17.52 per cent on the prior quarter, and reached a record USD144.43 billion in assets. Core equity ETFs, at USD1.79 trillion in assets, drew USD74.28 billion, which the report calls a marginal increase on the previous quarter's flows.

The fastest relative growth sat further down the table. HANetf says crypto ETPs posted the strongest relative asset growth, up 55.68 per cent over the quarter, while options-based ETPs reached a record USD11.82 billion on 50.86 per cent growth. Against a European ETP market of USD3.9 trillion, the options-based category is still about 0.3 per cent of assets, which is the arithmetic behind describing that growth as relative rather than absolute.

Enquiries still skew active

Of about 150 enquiries from global asset managers in the third quarter, HANetf says 70 per cent concerned active strategies rather than passive ones. HANetf describes the enquiry volume as high and says it continues to field interest from managers wanting to launch ETFs.

The report counts 164 ETF brands in Europe, of which HANetf says it accounts for more than 20 per cent. If the enquiry mix converts into launches, it would add active product to a category whose quarterly flows fell 17.52 per cent from the second quarter — a pipeline signal that runs against the flow trend in the same report.
