GQG's US equity ETF goes from zero tech to 58%

Morningstar traces a four-month swing that left only two of the fund's midyear holdings in place.

At a glance

  1. Utilities, ExxonMobil and Chevron are gone, and two holdings from the midyear portfolio survived the turnover.
  2. Recent buys such as Alphabet, Amazon.com, Meta and Space Exploration Technologies sit outside the official tech classification but rise and fall on similar forces.
  3. For advisors who hold or screen GQGU, a style-box label lags what the fund actually owns: the portfolio can look nothing like its benchmark or its own prior year.

GQG US Equity ETF GQGU went from zero information technology to a 58% tech allocation in four months, according to Morningstar.

Utilities, ExxonMobil and Chevron are gone, and two holdings from the midyear portfolio survived the turnover. This summer more than a third of the portfolio sat in regulated utilities and oil producers, with the rest in insurers, tobacco and telecom.

Recent buys such as Alphabet, Amazon.com, Meta and Space Exploration Technologies sit outside the official tech classification but rise and fall on similar forces. GQG Partners, the Fort Lauderdale, Florida, firm Rajiv Jain founded in 2016, managed about $160 billion as of mid-2026. Morningstar traced the strategy's tech weighting from nearly half in early 2024 to 22% at that year's end, 5% by spring 2025 and zero by early 2026.
