Global Switch to host Nvidia Blackwell deployment in Paris, tenant unnamed

Global Switch names no tenant or scale for a liquid-cooled Nvidia DGX-ready build it calls one of Europe's biggest Blackwell deployments.

At a glance

  1. The company discloses neither the deployment's scale nor the end user, which leaves a building specification standing in for a credit.
  2. The Paris campus answers two of those requirements on paper: it runs on 100 percent renewable energy and is due to supply waste heat to Levallois-Perret under a heat-offtake agreement starting in 2027, with a similar arrangement set to be replicated in Clichy.
  3. The commercial substance is thinner than the engineering claim.

Global Switch has been selected to host a large Nvidia Blackwell deployment at its Paris data center, mostly liquid-cooled and housed in a facility the operator has designated Nvidia DGX-ready. The company discloses neither the deployment's scale nor the end user, which leaves a building specification standing in for a credit. Global Switch France president Nicolas Duhamel frames the win around what AI and high-performance compute customers now require: significant power, advanced cooling options and dense, resilient connectivity, with established, well-connected sites doing the accelerating.

The Paris campus answers two of those requirements on paper: it runs on 100 percent renewable energy and is due to supply waste heat to Levallois-Perret under a heat-offtake agreement starting in 2027, with a similar arrangement set to be replicated in Clichy. Google is a known customer of the site, where thermal risk also has a documented history: a 2023 campus fire was caused by a cooling system water pump failure that leaked water into the battery room, a reminder that rejecting heat at liquid-cooled densities is daily operating work, not a procurement line.

The commercial substance is thinner than the engineering claim. Readiness is a building, its power envelope and its cooling class; a lease is a credit, and an unnamed counterparty cannot be priced. The anchor-tenant hierarchy PWD tracks runs on exactly that distinction, with signed hyperscaler or well-capitalized AI-lab tenancy pricing like infrastructure credit while tenancy that stays private does not. Liquid-cooled capacity at this class is scarce in European colocation, which likely explains why a building specification carries news value at all, and whether this build anchors the Paris campus or merely certifies it is something Global Switch has not published.

Paris is a reasonable place to test the claim, since sovereign-compute money has been moving into the city; Mistral Compute's €3 billion war chest is one marker of it, and Duhamel ties the deployment to France's sovereign AI ambitions. The constraint is that grid access now behaves as a customer class rather than a queue position, which favors operators holding approved power and connected shells, and Global Switch holds both in Paris. What it has not disclosed is who will pay for the compute inside them, or how much of it there is. The Levallois-Perret heat contract begins in 2027, and the tenant column should be filled in by then.
