The report, "The Next American Dream: Expanding Latino Participation in Retirement Investing," is Finhabits' 2026 Latino Power in Numbers report. It says roughly four in ten Latino adults with earnings would qualify for the Saver's Match, which provides qualifying lower- and middle-income workers a federal match on eligible retirement contributions.
What the report measures
Latinos accounted for about 8.3 million of the 14.7 million net new jobs created in the U.S. between 2015 and 2025, or 57% of the total, and represent about 20% of the U.S. workforce today, according to Finhabits' analysis. Median weekly earnings for Latino workers rose from $604 to $951 over the same period.
Home equity makes up 45.2% of Latino family assets, against 19.1% for White families, while investments are 19.1% of Latino family assets against 36.3% for White families, the report says.
Carlos García, founder and CEO of Finhabits, said the match "could create a new entry point into retirement investing for millions of Latino workers," adding that the aim is to help families build "a second pillar of long-term wealth alongside homeownership."
Finhabits modeled participation scenarios in which consistent retirement saving combined with the federal match produces an estimated $615 billion to $1.02 trillion in retirement balances over 30 years. The report describes those figures as illustrative scenarios rather than forecasts of future assets; the assumptions it lists include annual individual contributions of $1,600 and an average federal match of about 32%.

Eligibility is not enrollment
The 13.6 million figure is an income-eligibility estimate, not a count of workers who will receive the match, and the report does not estimate how many will enroll. Because the match applies to eligible retirement contributions, the money reaches a worker only when a contribution lands in a qualifying account.
