The Naples firm says clients split the year across several states and weeks abroad, and it reported $1.6 billion in regulatory assets across 1,153 accounts.

  1. Jason Stephens, founder and managing partner, said clients who once simply wintered in Florida now spend six or seven months there, take summers in the Northeast or Midwest and add several weeks abroad, a shift he has watched across more than 25 years.
  2. The firm keeps traveling to clients when they are away, particularly for significant planning decisions, family meetings or opportunities to bring the next generation into the conversation.
  3. Business partner Mic Lundon spends roughly four to six weeks a year between Minnesota and Ohio, where he is originally from and still has family.

Evertern Wealth, a Naples multifamily office, keeps advisors on the road as clients divide the year among several states and add weeks abroad. Jason Stephens, founder and managing partner, said clients who once simply wintered in Florida now spend six or seven months there, take summers in the Northeast or Midwest and add several weeks abroad, a shift he has watched across more than 25 years.

"Our job is to be available wherever their lives take them," Stephens said. "Technology has certainly made that easier, but we do not believe Zoom replaces personal relationships." The firm keeps traveling to clients when they are away, particularly for significant planning decisions, family meetings or opportunities to bring the next generation into the conversation.

Business partner Mic Lundon spends roughly four to six weeks a year between Minnesota and Ohio, where he is originally from and still has family. When multiple clients live in the same area, the firm builds several days of meetings around a single trip.

Evertern reported $1.6 billion in regulatory assets across 1,153 accounts as of Oct. 10, with 12 employees and five registered representatives, per WAD's records. That works out to an average of about $1.39 million per account.

Migration cools, domicile questions remain

Florida added 201,191 residents through domestic and international migration in 2025, down from nearly 599,000 at the 2022 peak, according to Census Bureau estimates analyzed by the University of Florida. Stephens said demand from his own client base has held up even as the broader migration wave cooled.

Every move raises the domicile question: which state a client legally treats as a permanent home for tax purposes. The state residency rules that trip up wealthy movers remain a planning priority. Evertern leans on relationships with tax accountants, estate attorneys and investment bankers to model tax consequences and coordinate the wider advisory team, Stephens said.
