DOE prepares up to $4.2 billion conditional financing for Vistra nuclear uprates

The conditional commitment would support upgrades at Beaver Valley, Davis-Besse and Perry, adding 433 megawatts.

The US Department of Energy is preparing up to $4.2 billion in conditional financing for nuclear uprates at Beaver Valley, Davis-Besse and Perry.

The three Vistra plants in PJM are expected to add 433 megawatts of carbon-free capacity.

The financing would run through the DOE loans program and support output increases at existing reactors rather than new construction.
