At a glance

  1. Nine-month volumes reached €84 billion ($93.5 billion), 25% above the same period last year, the bank said.
  2. For advisors with clients in Deutsche Bank's private bank, €7 billion of sustainability-mandated investments now counts toward the same €84 billion total the bank reports against its 2030 target.
  3. Transition finance contributed €6.4 billion in the third quarter, up from €4.3 billion in the prior quarter and about a fifth of the quarterly total.

Deutsche Bank reported €32 billion ($35.6 billion) of sustainable and transition financing in the third quarter, up 42% from a year earlier and its strongest quarter since the sustainability strategy launched in 2020.

Nine-month volumes reached €84 billion ($93.5 billion), 25% above the same period last year, the bank said. Cumulative financing since 2020 stands at €555 billion against a €900 billion target for the end of 2030, leaving €345 billion to raise across 17 quarters — an average of about €20 billion a quarter, against the €32 billion booked in the third quarter alone.

For advisors with clients in Deutsche Bank's private bank, €7 billion of sustainability-mandated investments now counts toward the same €84 billion total the bank reports against its 2030 target. That is the first time private-client holdings — equity securities of companies the bank says meet stringent sustainability criteria — have been included.

Transition finance contributed €6.4 billion in the third quarter, up from €4.3 billion in the prior quarter and about a fifth of the quarterly total. The bank widened its strategy in late 2025 to target net-zero transitions in hard-to-abate sectors and set out a Transition Finance framework defining eligible transactions.

By unit, the investment bank supplied €52.4 billion of the nine-month total, up 12% year over year, followed by the private bank at €18.5 billion and corporate banking at €13.8 billion.
