Core Stack, Lazzari Group's digital infrastructure business, and private equity firm Green Arrow Capital plan 13 medium-sized data centers across Italy. The joint venture is backed by more than €1 billion ($1.16 billion), Data Center Dynamics reported, citing Italy's ANSA news agency.
Two brownfield sites near Cremona and Verona are in advanced permitting. Construction is expected to start at the end of 2027, with go-live targeted for the first quarter of 2028. The industrial plots run through the north and northeast first, then the center-south.
Allocators reviewing Green Arrow Capital's GAIF II, its second energy and digital infrastructure fund, are being asked to underwrite a 13-site plan with two sites near approval.
Each data center is planned with a renewable energy plant beside it. The joint venture expects that arrangement to match electrical capacity with growing digital demand, and it is weighing battery energy storage systems developed with the Polytechnic University of Milan.
At the joint venture's launch earlier this year, it described a "substantial" project pipeline and said a "significant share" was expected to win construction approval during 2026.
