CF Benchmarks launched CFB Oracle on Oct. 27, selling index prices that underpin BlackRock's bitcoin ETF and CME Group's crypto futures to developers building products on blockchains. The service covers the firm's benchmarks for cryptocurrencies, stocks, bonds, commodities and currencies.
CFB Oracle is live on Ethereum, HyperEVM and Robinhood Chain, with plans for other compatible networks, CoinDesk first reported. The intended users are teams building onchain index funds, tokenized portfolios and derivatives.
For a wealth manager assessing a tokenized fund, the oracle is the price source behind portfolio valuation and collateral calls. A blockchain fund holding tokenized stocks needs reference prices to compute its value; a lending platform accepting tokenized bonds as collateral needs them to set borrowing limits and decide when to liquidate.
CF Benchmarks says each price is digitally signed, so an application can check that the number came from the company and was not altered in transit. It also says it releases every index at the same frequency for all customers rather than charging more for faster access. An onchain fund and any lender pricing off the same index receive the same snapshot on the same schedule.
The company says its indices are used by products holding more than $120 billion in assets. The service will not issue funds or handle trades; it supplies reference prices only and competes with oracle providers Chainlink and Pyth, which already provide market data to decentralized trading and lending platforms.
CF Benchmarks is owned by Payward, the Kraken parent that announced a deal to buy Lithuania's Saldo Bank for an EU banking license, as Private Wealth Daily previously reported. Payward intends to use CFB Oracle to supply pricing for an upcoming U.S. perpetual futures offering powered by Hyperliquid, a product still awaiting regulatory approval.
