The Business Continuity & Resiliency team oversees the company’s resilience program. We help evaluate the criticality and relationships of the various businesses, develop plans with those plans how to maintain their operations through any disruptions and test to make sure the plans are adequate.

In the case of disruptions, this team helps provide support through the incident including coordinating communications to management and impacted business units. Due to the nature of what we do, rarely are any two days entirely the same.

As a Business Continuity Analyst, you will review recovery plans to verify completeness and adherence to the corporate recovery plan format, provide support for business continuity testing by scheduling meetings and gathering business unit test scripts, participate in recovery tests, and assist with utilization for the automated notification system.

This is a subset of the overall responsibilities which will include multiple initiatives assigned by Corporate Risk leadership. We’re looking for someone comfortable with not having the same day-to-day routine and eager to learn multiple areas of the business as you will be supporting different departments.

Working for UMB is about collaborative spirit with internal stakeholders, entrepreneurial pride, encouraging creativity, rewarding success, community involvement, and working directly with the decision makers. This role is hybrid (Mon through Thu on-site / Fri remote) located in either the Dubuque, IA or Kansas City, MO location.

How you will spend your time: Review departmental Resumption/Recovery plans to verify completeness and adherence to the corporate recovery plan format, including proper accountability for their interdependence upon other bank functions.

Provide support for business continuity testing as part of the annual Disaster Recovery Exercise, including scheduling of business unit meetings, updating and gathering of business unit test scripts, and testing support during the actual exercise. Coordinate contingency testing schedules at assigned recovery sites and participate in the recovery tests.

Assist with incident management during major business incidents or as requested by manager. Assist with utilization of the automated notification system, including scheduling and executing business unit exercises. Schedule and support functional business unit tabletop exercises. Assist with coordination of communication of continuity issues to bank personnel, including senior management.

Provide administrative support during any recovery efforts, including assisting with re-location of business units to their recovery space as required. We are excited to talk if you have: A degree in business or public administration OR at least 4 years of related work experience in banking or contingency planning. Strong ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written reports.

Established and maintained working relationships with associates involved in contingency planning. Strong critical thinking and analytic skills, including the ability to perform data analysis to support and draw conclusions. Bonus Points if you have: An Associate Business Continuity Professional accreditation. Knowledge of the financial services industry.

Understanding of business continuity best practices, standards, and regulatory requirements. Applicants must have legal authority to work in the United States. Work Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This position was posted on 10/22/2026. The application deadline for this position is 45 days from the posting date unless filled earlier.
