Summary

• The Summer Intern, Siplast, supports the Research and Development (R&D) function within the Siplast commercial roofing business. The Summer Intern, Siplast, will work with scientists and manager(s) and be a part of the Siplast R&D team based in Arkadelphia, AR. He/she will have a great deal of opportunity to learn, contribute and develop leadership skills. Essential Duties Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Learn, be curious and brainstorm on potential new ideas for optimizing commercial roofing products and systems that will bring value to the end users (Architects, Roof Contractors, Consultants) Design and perform experiments with moderate to heavy supervision, interprets and evaluates data, contributes to written reports Collect, analyze and present scientific data to key stakeholders and senior management Under This Roof, We Require Major in chemistry, polymer science, engineering or related fields. Preferably with a sophomore standing pursuing an undergraduate degree. GPA of 3.0 Candidates with experiences related to lab environment are preferred
• Ability to travel and visit plants or customer sites as needed (10% time)

• Ability to gather and understand customer insights and translate them into meaningful new solution development opportunities Hands-on skills through prototype building and testing of new product concepts

Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. In the late 1960s, Siplast Research and Development, working in conjunction with Shell Chemical of Europe, developed SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene) modified bitumens. We found that by properly modifying asphalt with SBS, we could produce a highly durable elastomeric blend with exceptional elongation/recovery properties over a wide range of temperatures.
