Who We Are

At Freestone, we believe in making a meaningful difference by focusing on what truly matters to our clients. With a 27-year history of consistent growth and success, we are an independent wealth and asset management firm with over $15 billion in assets under management. Headquartered in Washington, with a team of over 120 professionals, we are dedicated to delivering a highly personalized experience that combines intelligent, thoughtful advice with unique investment strategies and comprehensive financial planning.

About the Role

Freestone is seeking a proactive and professional individual to serve as a Portfolio Manager as part of our Investment Team. The Portfolio Manager will be tasked with overseeing our equity and fixed income platform and will be involved in all aspects of portfolio management, from construction, performance, and research to client service and sales.

Due to the complex nature of clients’ investment objectives and related service needs, Portfolio Managers must be well-versed in a broad range of investment disciplines and strategies. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, sophistication, and flexibility in understanding and implementing diverse investment strategies.

Unlike many RIAs, Freestone has a robust investment team that makes all investment strategy decisions, while Client Advisory teams focus on working with clients and communicating our investment process. Success in this role will be directly related to the hire's ability to distill and communicate our unique investment process in the public markets while building relationships with our client advisors, operations, and legal/compliance teams.

  • Draft and publish public market research for internal and external audiences

Client Service and Sales

  • Collaborate with our investment strategist, as well as compliance and marketing to produce quarterly commentary for client advisory teams
  • Help us to tell our story with an eye toward generating new business
  • Partner with our investment strategist to respond to ongoing questions from our client advisor teams regarding our equity and bond offerings
  • Build the team’s reputation for professional excellence and credibility within Freestone and throughout the investment management community

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of public market investment experience at an RIA, an asset manager, or as a sell-side analyst

  • Ability to identify and describe key risk exposures and portfolio characteristics
  • Results- and performance-oriented, with comfort working in a collaborative team environment
  • Highest level of commitment to ethics and professionalism
  • Higher energy and conviction a plus
