About Us

American Century Investments® is a leading global asset manager with over 65 years of experience helping a broad base of clients achieve their financial goals. Our expertise spans global equities and fixed income, multi-asset strategies, ETFs, and private investments. Privately owned and independent, we focus solely on investment management. But there’s an unexpected side to us, too.

We direct 40% of our dividends every year—over $2 billion since 2000—to the Stowers Institute for Medical Research. Our ongoing financial support drives the Institute’s breakthrough work and mission of defeating life-threatening diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s. So, the better we do for our clients, the more we can do for everyone.

All who work here around the globe are inspired every day by the unique difference our hard work can make in so many lives. It shows in the curiosity we bring to every initiative, the deep relationships we build with our clients, and the way we treat each other in the hallway. If you’re excited to learn more about us, we can’t wait to learn more about you.

Role Summary

The Event Planner supports the planning and execution of client, corporate, and employee events by coordinating event details, maintaining accurate information, and helping ensure a consistent attendee experience.

Working closely with the Events team, this role provides hands-on support for registration, guest communications, hotel rooming, transportation, event materials, vendor coordination, staffing, on-site execution, and post-event closeout.

The Event Planner will contribute to complex, high-profile programs, including the American Century Championship, while independently coordinating smaller events and assigned event workstreams. This role is well suited for a collaborative, detail-oriented professional who enjoys managing logistics, anticipating and solving problems, learning from experienced event professionals, and helping bring event plans to life.

This hybrid position will be based out of our Kansas City, Missouri office. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.

How You Will Make an Impact Support event planning and execution: Assist senior event planners with the development and execution of client, corporate, and employee events, with the biggest focus being our marquee annual American Century Championship event hosting high-profile executives, clients, and partners.

Coordinate event details: Track assignments, timelines, deliverables, approvals, and event logistics to help ensure work is completed accurately and on schedule. This involves liaising with several departments across the organization including other Marketing department colleagues, Sales, and IT.

Manage registration activities: Support the creation and maintenance of registration websites, monitor registrations, process attendee changes, respond to routine attendee questions, maintain confirmation records, and prepare registration reports.

Assist with guest communications: Draft, proofread, format, and distribute invitations, confirmations, reminders, itineraries, event updates, and other attendee communications with guidance from senior event planners. Coordinate hotel and transportation needs: Assist with rooming lists, reservation changes, arrival and departure information, transportation schedules, and related guest details.

Support vendor and venue coordination: Help collect proposals, organize vendor information, confirm services, track deadlines, maintain contact information, and communicate routine updates under the direction of a senior event planner. Maintain event documentation: Organize event files, planning documents, attendee records, compliance materials, approvals, contracts, invoices, reports, and post-event documentation.

Support budget administration: Track event expenses, obtain invoices, assist with reconciliation, and maintain supporting budget documentation. Escalate discrepancies or potential budget concerns to senior event planners.

Coordinate event materials: Partner with internal teams and external vendors to help develop, proofread, order, organize, ship, and distribute signage, name badges, printed materials, gifts, supplies, and other event-related items.

Provide on-site event support: Assist with event setup, registration, guest arrivals, hospitality areas, meeting rooms, transportation, signage, supplies, and other assigned operational responsibilities. Support event staffing: Help prepare staffing schedules, volunteer instructions, contact lists, briefing materials, and other resources needed for event execution.

Contribute to post-event evaluation: Compile attendee feedback, participation information, budget details, and stakeholder input; assist with reports and document lessons learned for future events. Follow compliance and risk requirements: Maintain required documentation and follow established approval, privacy, regulatory, risk, and firm processes.

Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to proofread materials and maintain accurate event information. A collaborative, client-focused approach when working with senior planners, internal partners, vendors, event staff, and attendees.
